Pothamus from around Mechelen, Belgium brings an exciting trip of sludge and post-rock. Looking for deeper atmospheres, the trio wanders past shoegaze, drones and stoner guitars, carried by tribalesque percussion and pulsating bass lines. A beast that struggles between rippling, flowing and swirling.
Driven by big questions, Pothamus returns to the basics of music: coming together and drifting away. The look inside to understand the outside world.
Respectful of the elusive, the band seeks its own stories, puzzling with myths and meaning. This search translated visual artist Iljen Put into Codex Pothamus: a total work that visually accompanies and inspires the band. The first draft album is a report of this dialogue.
Somewhere this year they will release their first full album so keep an eye and ear open for these guys!
